The Hunger Games and The American Dream

The American dream is what he have been talking about for the last few weeks in my blogs. But this week I will tie it into a story we have read. The story I am choosing is the hunger games. The hunger games is basically about this girl that is from the poorest district and she has to go and fight people in her district in this major battle type thing called the hunger games. During this time she is trying to help out her family because at first her baby sister got chosen to be a fighter and she sacrificed her life to save her sisters. This whole book shows the American dream. First of all throughout this whole book she has this love affair with this guy she is in battle with who she teams up against. One part of what i believe to be the American Dream is to start  a family and find someone you love. Throughout this whole story there is this love she finds. That is one part of the American dream. Another part is to strive and to flourish. In this book her family is a very poor family that can hardly get by and the only way they get by is when Katniss the main character goes into the wood and hunt for food for her family. This is showing that she want to flourish and that is her goal for her family. But now after the hunger games is over she is a very wealthy women. With all this wealth she never say she does not like to have money but she does say she misses her old home. Now that she is happy and has enough food for her family she can go on with her life and work even harder on the smaller aspects of her own personal American Dream.  This story is one of many stories I could have chose from. But as a writer and a reader I chanllenge you to go out and find you American dream and what it means to you. Also find stories and things that you can connect to the American dream. This blog is not facts for you as a reader to view, these are my opinions and if you have any opinions then share. I challenge you to find your American dream.

  1. Justin I like how you relate the Hunger Games to the American Dream. I think that the main focus of the American Dream is similar between my book and your book. That is that the American Dream for these people is the will to survive.
